Wild-caught live periwinkles harvested from the Southern Australian and Tasmanian coasts provide an excellent source of culinary fare, easily prepared by boiling and seasoning with a bit of salt and then dipped in a garlic, butter and lemon grass sauce.

A healthy source of minerals, including iron, zinc, and magnesium, found in abundance in periwinkles.
